Munday Names Alvin Johnson Jr. as New Chief of Police

MUNDAY, TEXAS — September 21, 2026 — Mayor Karen Longan announces the appointment of Alvin Johnson Jr. as Chief of Police for

the City of Munday, effective September 28, 2026.

Johnson brings more than 17 years of law enforcement experience to Munday, with leadership experience as Chief of Police for the Cuney

Police Department, Police Lieutenant with the Talty Police Department, Police Sergeant with Lancaster ISD Police Department, and Patrol

Officer with the Lancaster Police Department.

His background includes community-oriented policing, crisis management, patrol supervision, crime prevention, officer training and

mentorship, data-driven decision-making, technology adoption, multi-agency coordination, and strategic resource management. Johnson has

emphasized building trust with residents and community organizations while improving response times and operational efficiency.

Mayor Karen Longan said:

“The City of Munday is very pleased to welcome Alvin Johnson as our new Chief of Police. His more than 17 years of law enforcement

experience, leadership background, commitment to community-oriented policing, and focus on professional development and

technology will be valuable assets to our Police Department and our community.”

Johnson said:

“I am honored and excited to join the City of Munday as Chief of Police. I look forward to serving the citizens of Munday, working

alongside the officers and city staff, and building strong relationships throughout the community. Effective law enforcement is about

building trust, listening to residents, and finding innovative ways to keep people safe.”

In addition to his law enforcement career, Johnson has owned and operated Johnson Express since 2018, bringing additional experience in

operations, fleet management, strategic planning, technology, performance analysis, and organizational leadership.

Johnson will assume his duties with the Munday Police Department on September 28, 2026. The City of Munday welcomes Chief Johnson

and looks forward to his service and leadership in the community.
